May 21, 2015, Shanghai-Project HOPE and Baxter China were presented 2015 AmCham Shanghai Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Partnership Award at the AmCham Shanghai 100 anniversary ceremony.
Founded in 1958, Project HOPE (People to People Foundation, hereafter referred to as HOPE) is dedicated to providing lasting solutions to health problems with the mission of helping people to help themselves. HOPE now conducts medical training, health education programs and humanitarian assistance in about 30 countries across five continents. In 1983, invited by China Ministry of Health and Zhejiang Medical University, HOPE entered into China as the first international non-profit health training organization and has been dedicated to improve people’s health and to strengthen the health system.
In 2013, Project HOPE and the Baxter International Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Baxter International Inc., jointly launched the 2-year Senior Care Program in Tangqiao community, Pudong district, Shanghai, China. This program provided health care service for the elder over 65 years old by community-based and home-based health screenings (BP, glucose), education workshops on NCD self-management, home-based health consultation and medication arrangement, fall risk assessment and preventive education, and music-based exercises. Totally, over 72,000 elders benefited from this program with improved physical and psychological well-being. HOPE (Shanghai) and Baxter China kept close communication and collaboration during program implementation.
“It’s a testimony of the successful partnership between HOPE and Baxter. It also reflects the impact of the productive Senior Care Program. HOPE is seeking further collaboration opportunities with Baxter to make a difference in people’s lives”, Lily Hsu, Program Director of Project HOPE Shanghai office, remarked.
Runhong XU, General Manager, Baxter Greater China, said, We are honored to gain the award which implies an acknowledgement of our active response to community demands and contribution to sustainable development of health system in China. It will inspire us to deepen collaboration with partners and facilitate medical accessibility to contribute to the patient and society in China.
The AmCham Shanghai CSR Awards honor and showcase organizations and individuals who have made notable contributions to further corporate citizenship in China. Project HOPE & Baxter has been selected as a joint winner of the 2015 AmCham Shanghai CSR Partnership Award. This year, there were over 40 nominations and a competitive pool of excellent candidates, and Baxter China and Project HOPE’s achievement in CSR stands out among them.
